So one of my HDDs has been acting strangely as of late. Even the lightest of loads will cause the HDD usage to shoot to 100%.
Is the disk about to fail? Is the SATA cable bad? SMART status shows health is "good".
It started happening about a month ago, a week after I installed a new drive. I couldn't even move the files out of the HDD because max transfer speed was about 500kb/s (it used to hover around 60mb/s before) and would often fall to 0bytes/s and stay there until i cancelled. So I reinstalled Windows and the HDD started working normally again for a couple of weeks but it's doing the same thing again. Even downloading a file will saturate the HDD and force the download speed to stay under 500kb/s.
I have no paging file on that drive, all the other 3 drives are working perfectly, examined the drive for errors and none was found, and fragmentation is at 13%.
