Secondary HDD in laptop hangs

So I have a N15_17RD laptop, which works well for the most part.
But, I've been having issues with the secondary builtin harddrive. More specifically, let's suppose that I am downloading something to the harddrive using steam, and attempt to run another program that is installed on the HDD. Then, the harddrive 'hangs', and any programs attempting to use it freeze, typically becoming unkillable in task manager, prompting me to attempt a restart. However, even that doesn't work, as the program hangs at the shutdown screen, and I am forced to Hold the power down in order to shut down the program.

It would be nice to just back up the data stored on the drive, until you sort this out.

After that, you can:
