Hello,

I've just finished putting together a new PC Build and am running into a really annoying issue. I have a Primary 120GB SSD that I want to use as the primary boot drive(for Windows, Battlefield 3, Skyrim, etc.), and a secondary 1.5TB HDD that I want to use to install all other programs such as iTunes, malwarebytes, VLC player, and other general programs.

The issue I am running into when I install, or attempt to install a program on the HDD are:

a) The program installs on the HDD, but will not work nor open.

or

b) I get an error message "you don't have access to write on the installation directory."

I have created a Program Files and Program Files (x86) folder in the HDD, but I'm pretty much lost on what needs to be done to have it up and running correctly. Any information or advice is greatly appreciated.

Not sure what is happening there.
The drive is recognized by windows and appears in my computer. You install the programs on it using the setup/installation media that comes with the programs (will create the folders needed). Using shortcuts created by the installation does not work and start the programs?

Did YOU create the Program Files & Program Files(x86) directories on your HDD or did the installation program(s) create them?
If you created them, I recommend deleting those directories and re-installing the programs that used them. As Rolli59 says, the installation for the programs will automatically create any directories it needs.
