Question Secondary Monitor at 144hz?

I currently use an asus vg248qe connected to an MSI GTX 970 via DVI-D and i'm looking to purchase an MSI Optix MAG241C Full HD 23.6" Curved LED gaming Monitor so set up as a secondary monitor, and still use my current monitor as the main one for gaming, while both being at 144hz.

I'm a little confused as to how to connect this up or whether it's even possible as i don't want to spend on something without knowing, and all i've read up is people saying use DVI, HDMI 1.4 and some people saying its not possible and even some weird complication with fps and forcing the main monitor to 60hz which is a big no for me

Is it possible? If so how do i go about connecting it up and which cables do i need? Displayport? HDMI? i've read reasons for and against both

For 144hz you would need DVI dual link, Disply Port or HDMI 1.4
Best would be DP connection.
