My company wants to donate the old laptops to charity but is concerned about security of old data. Can anyone recommend software which will wipe the drives and make them unable to recover.

Look through the bios for a secure erase option.

Whatever method is used might be a good idea to boot up some data recovery software and let it have a sniff after the wipe.

If the data on these company disk is secret stuff might be best to destroy the disk.
