I am preparing external hard drives for our kids. Pictures and family videos.
Is there a way to prevent them from sharing - copying files - to another drive?
We don't want them to be able to copy files to one of their friend's HD.
Thanks
Rob

You can encrypt the whole disk (Windows has built-in tools for that), and provide the password only on computers you want to.
Before encryption - make a backup

From computer' point of view, as long as you are able to sse photos and watch videos, you can copy them.

Did you read my previous answer? What part of it you did not understand?

- Encrypt the disk (Windows BitLocker, or TrueCrypt-like program). This way only computer with already stored password will be able to decrypt it on-the-fly. Again - keep unencrypted copy of the contents somewhere else.
-I would rather get a NAS, and put it in secure location on the network. No need for (fragile) external media.
