I noticed this happening starting a few days ago, my computer never did it before. A shell window keeps flashing on my screen at random intervals, too fast to see what it is. I finally opened task manager and sat there staring at it until I caught the name of the program. As per the title, it is SecureBootEncodeUEFI.exe

I've got the May 9 security update installed, but it's still doing it.

How do I find out if this is a malicious program and how do I deal with it?

See if this helps

right click start button

choose powershell (admin)

copy/paste this command into window:

Repair-WindowsImage -Online -RestoreHealth

and press enter

Then type SFC /scannow

and press enter

Restart PC if SFC fixes any files as some fixes require a restart to be implemented

First command repairs the files SFC uses to clean files, and SFC fixes system files

SFC = System File Checker. First command runs DISM - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/what-is-dism?view=windows-11

other solutions offered - https://securedstatus.com/how-to-fix-infected-securebootencodeuefi-exe/ - don't do method 3 yet.

it appears it is part of windows - https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...euefiexe/fe0aa6b3-e31f-4040-9aee-9e5999d834bf
