Security Tab Missing

I recently upgraded several Windows '98 Computers to
Windows 2000 Professional. No matter how I logon, as a
User or as Administrator, there is no security tab when
right-clicking on a folder and selecting properties. I
need to have that security tab to allow a certain folder
full access by our users and a particular program found
within that folder.

On those computers where Windows 2000 Professional came
pre-installed, (a clean install), the security tab appears
just fine when right-clicking on a folder and selecting
properties. The program in question runs just fine on
those machines because I was able to give that program and
our users full access to the folder containing the
program.

I searched the Knowledge Base and discoverd article
174829, but it was not effective in solving the problem.

Now what do I do?

Thanks,
Ronald W. Frye

First make sure those computers are using the ntfs file system which may have not
been changed in the upgrade. You can view the drive properties to see what file
system is being used. W98 used fat32 which does not offer file security. See the link
below on how you can convert an existing fat32 parition to ntfs without having to do
a reinstall. --- Steve
