Greetings Forum Members,

I am currently facing an issue with my ASUS PH-GTX1060-3G graphics card as it has stopped working. In search of a replacement, I have narrowed down my choices to either the 1650 4GB or the RX 580 4GB. However, I am open to suggestions from the community regarding any other viable options available in the market.

Your input and recommendations would be highly appreciated.

My Specs are below .

CPU: i7 4770 (8 years)
CPU cooler: Stock Cooler
Motherboard: Gigabyte ga b85 d3h (8 years)
Ram: gskills rip jaws 8gb x 4 ( 1 year old )
SSD/HDD: Crucial mx 500 1tb ( OS) WD 1 tb 7200 rpm for storage
GPU: ASUS PH-GTX1060-3G GeForce GTX 1060 3GB ( almost 6 years old ) Stopped Working
PSU: Antec VP550P 550w Swapped it with Cooler Master MWE 450 Bronze V2 Power Supply - Non-Modular | 80 Plus Bronze Certified
Chassis: Antec ask 4000b-u3 ( Dimensions 17.3 (H) x 7.3 (W) x 16.2 (D) )

Thank you,

It depends on what you use your PC for. Do you play games, if so, what games ?
Is it for general computing needs and nothing too taxing such as rendering etc
How much do you want to spend ?
The used market is likely to be your target but beware of thrashed RX580 from x-mining farms if any are still being dumped

Power supply needs replacing first, it's just a low quality unit that wouldn't stand up to 580. An Rm650x i would recommend or at least CX650w.

I used to run 1080ti with an overclocked 2600k at 4.5 and it ran great. Your cpu will handle 3060Ti or Amd equivalent quite well. But going from a slot powered gpu to using external power the psu comes first.

@Nine Layer Nige I utilize this system primarily for various tasks such as graphics design, 3D modeling, rendering, video editing, Content Creation and 1080p gaming

@boju The NVIDIA RTX 3060Ti won't experience a bottleneck with an i7 4770 CPU despite the latter being a 4th generation processor that is relatively weaker

Not at all. 3060Ti is a bit faster than 1080Ti, and with the 2600k i had the card was 10~15fps slower compared to 8700k benchmarks with same card. Not bad for an oldie.

Sure, if you run games very low details where reaching CPU's fps cap might be a problem but you won't be doing that, even if you did it'll only cause potential stutters from maxed out CPU, won't harm anything. Instead, you'll run 1080p with decent visuals whilst CPU is cruising because you won't be hitting CPU's max fps which is what, 100fps? or more in latest games. Depending on game engine of course, older games your CPU's fps max be even higher.
