How good of a monitor is it? Would you recommend one better?

It's a very nice monitor for that price but there are some drawbacks you must be willing to deal with.

Glossy panel - You will get reflections in brightly lit rooms (but you get great color reproduction).
No Vesa mount - You're stuck with the stand it comes with and that's not much.

It isn't glossy, they never are for the most part, that is a laptop thing.

This annoys me but glossy on a desktop LCD always means the bezel finish.

I tink some standard descriptions should be used as there it is not easy to tell a glossy panel form a glossy bezel online.

However, in the specifications of the newegg page it does say the cabinet finish is glossy black. Not all sites say that.
