Using mostly NewEgg with a few items from Amazon:

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9S-4GBRL $34.99 on NewEgg

Acer G276HL Gbmid 27-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) Widescreen Display $179.99 on Amazon

I've built computers in the past (over 15 years ago) and I've never upgraded anything more than the RAM, so I'm not too concerned about this build's limited expansion abilities. My interest in games and computer use in general is pretty casual these days, so I'm looking for cheap over cutting edge performance. I may want a Blu Ray player at some point for watching films; and if I end up using the computer a lot, I may get a 3TB drive (but I have a 1TB external drive already). Otherwise, I'm pretty out of the loop with the tech of today and used http://pcpartpicker.com/guide/gcTwrH/entry-level-gaming-build as a starting point.

I have trial of Amazon Prime so I get free 2 day shipping on Amazon items. The shipping on the NewEgg items comes to a scant $5.80

The total for this build is: $709.22

I think this is a pretty good build for the buck, but if you see where I could improve the value of my purchase or if you see of any potential compatibility issues, please let me know!
Thanks,
Jason

MB - Z97 is for overclocking or SLI / CF. Look toward the H97 platform for your budget build..
SSD - Fine choice. Also consider the MX100 as a good budget minded option.
GPU - Upgraded
CASE - There aren't any 2.5" internal mounting locations in the FBM-01 case and it is a ho-hum case to begin with.
MONITOR - Changed to a 24" IPS LED panel.

Thanks for the reply! Your expertise has helped me improve my build. I've tweaked the build:
I've decided I don't mind a chinsy case, but still need to decide if I want to pay more to have USB 3.0 in the front, and whether I pay $10 more to get the Pro4 mono instead of the Anniversary. I need to decide very soon, because some of my new egg deals are about to go away.

Do I need to buy any cables for this build or will they come with the parts?
I'm concerned I didn't see a cable included in the monitor or the graphics card. Is it safe to assume the case or power supply will come with power cords?

Either the Anniversary or Pro4 would be fine.

All the cables for building the PC will come with the MB or individual part. No worries on the internals of the PC or power cord for the power supply. You may need to pick up an HDMI / DVI cable for the monitor if you don't already have one...
