Hello, I'm building a system for my father. He isn't a gamer but his kids and grandkids are, so a solid, quiet, capable system is my target.

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Next week or so.

BUDGET RANGE: ~ $1000

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: internet, games, office type work

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: no monitor or speakers

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: newegg.com

PARTS PREFERENCES: Intel CPU, not AMD

OVERCLOCKING: no, and wont crossfire

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 19" typical monitor, just don't remember resolution

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: loooking for a rock solid, quiet, capable computer.

Those 6GB kits are designed for the i7 CPU's and their triple channel RAM controller. I would ditch the DDR3 plan and get this motherboard and RAM instead:

The e8500 isnt bad, i run everything with it, videos, multitask, music + gaming + downloads and it runs smooth, and that was when it was at stock, it's oc'd now.


Heres a good Asus p5Q se + e8500 combo

but, im sure you can just get away with the ud3r and the e8500 and still be in good shape on your budget.
