Question Seeking community input

I built my gaming rig in the spring of 2013. It has an AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition chip on an MSI 890FXA-GD70 board . I ran two XFX Radeon 7970 3GB Black cards in it. Now one of the cards has died. What does the community recommend as the highest tier replacement cards?

or the highest tier card available at the moment?

That wont bottleneck. Anyone could find the current flash in the pan. I need to find the best possible pair of replacement cards for my current system.
