Segements Unreadable - How to retrieve data.

Hi,

My laptop is having problems. When it boots it starts reading some sort of segments but they are unreadable. I think what could of caused it is that my dad never noticed the laptop was not plugged in and the laptop had basically no battery left and he kept on trying to boot it using the button but it wouldn't work until eventually it just starting reading those segments. I think the hard drive might be dead but is there a way to retrieve the data because it has some really important stuff on there.

Quick update

I just managed to backup all my data and possibly fix my laptop, so hurray.
