Hey folks,

2 Days ago i decided that i have put too mucu thermal paste on the cpu, so i removed my motherboard and cleaned some paste, but when i put it back, every time i launch my px i get a ”select a proper boot device” and i cannot use my mouse or keyboard,

The only way i can regain control and boot into windows is to open the case and replug the HDD in another socket.

I dont want this becoming a daily thing because yesterday my clock eent back 12 days and im afraid it rolled back a few stuff.

Motherboard ~ MSI G45 Gaming
Cpu ~ i7 4790k

Cheers for the answers!

Not sure why this would of happened if there are NO NEW devices/any removed.

Try updating BIOS.

If that doesn't work.

I had a similar issue but with ram, I had to reset CMOS(maybe re-install windows, I can't remember). I'd try that I guess.

New motherboards don't usually come with newest drivers, you have to install them(disk won't have the newest)
Make sure everything is in like motherboard jumpers, CPU fan, GPU is in the same slot(maybe change it?). Check ram, maybe switch it up for test and update bios and drivers after cmos reset.
