Windows 10 x64 - running on a desktop I built myself.

I have an ASUS X99-PRO/USB 3.1 motherboard.

I am running BIOS version 3701, dated 2017/12/01.

On the ASUS website (not a great search facility on it, I think) the nearest I can get to my MB code is X99-PRO (without the /USB 3.1 tag).

I downloaded BIOS version 4101, dated 2019/07/17 and put it on a FAT32 formatted USB stick. I then tried to install it from with BIOS using the EZ-Flash utility.

But, I'm getting a message "Selected file is not a proper BIOS".

I've also tried BIOS versions between my 2017 one and the 2019 I want to install. I get the same error message.

Any idea what the problem might be? Is there a workaround?

Thanks.

D.

Solution
Inside the zip file, asus includes a renamer tool you usually have to use. Some Antivirus can block installs of bios files, they look at them as malicious code with that suffix, so Asus sends the file as something else. Once you unpack the zip file, use the renamer on the bios file, then try to install.

Recommend temporarily disabling any running AV when you do this.
