As many of you have noticed that every time you select some words or sentences in MS Word 2013, the words or sentences are automatically REplaced by the new text that you start typing after selecting them. This is the default configuration of MS Word 2013, and is available in earlier versions of the application as well.

This default configuration makes your task quite simpler as you do not have to remove the existing contents manually before typing the new ones. You can simply select the words that you want to remove, and can start typing the new text and the text replaces the selected phrases.

However, you might sometimes experience that there is something wrong with your instance of MS Word 2013, and it no longer replaces the selected words with the type ones. Fortunately MS Word 2013 allows you to control this behavior with the help of a checkbox. When the checkbox is checked, MS Word 2013 starts replacing the selected words with the typed texts, and when the checkbox is unchecked, the texts are not replaced.

Below is a process using which you can easily configure your copy of MS Word 2013 to respond as per your business or personal needs. Here’s what you need to do:

■Log on to the computer using the account in whose profile the MS Word 2013 is to be modified.

■Once logged on, open any existing MS Word 2013 document or create a new one.

■On the opened interface, go to the FILE tab.

■From the displayed list, click Options.

■Once done, click OK to save the changes.

■Restart MS Word 2013 to allow the changes to take effect.

Note:When on step 6, if the ‘Typing replaces selected text’ checkbox is already checked, uncheck the checkbox, and continue with the 7[super]th[/super] and 8[super]th[/super] step. After this, go to the step 6 and again check the checkbox that you unchecked earlier and follow the 7[super]th[/super] and 8[super]th[/super] step. The issue should be resolved by this.
