Selecting UEFI in Bios stops boot

I have an m.2 SSD as my boot drive. I made several changes that were recommend online to my bios to speed the boot process.

Most of the recommendations worked well. However, the recommendation to change to change a boot setting in bios to UEFI first stops the boot process. I had to go back to legacy.

Can anyone explain why UEFI first creates issues for me? Just curious.

you have to reinstall windows to use UEFI because windows is configured for legacy BIOS
