How are Transcend RAM modules or any other generic DDR2 modules vs. say G.Skill DDR2?

Secondly should I buy 2x512 or 1x1024? (In other words will I notice the difference of dual-channel?)

Thanks

ok so now it's just up to whether 10-15% memory performance is worth about $6 + being able to upgrade to 2gb easily somtime down the track. what do you guys think?

the 10% is in memory peroformance, real world is practically invisible. The ability to run 4GBs one day yields the decision here.

Transcend uses D9GMH chips on their 800Cl4 modules, theyre not comparable to the promos/hynix/elpida chips the generic RAM uses. But it depends which speeds youre comparing to see if theyre better than Gskill.
