selection screen

In Win98se you hit shift, or F10, or F12... or something to get to the prompt for different boot up options. Which one is it? I've tried it all and I can't seem to get to that selection screen with any consistency at all. I need to get into safe mode!

I believe it is F8. You have to hold it down just as the BIOS sequence is ending but before windows starts to load.

Yes, that is correct F8 is the right key, but if your CPU is fast you must be fast at hitting "F8" as soon as you see the "Starting Windows" or a half of a second before.
