Cyclopentane is an alkane (hydrocarbon) that is formed in a ring.

It has the chemical formula C5H10

It is fairly simple challege, "map out the infinite dungeon". As you know,
this is impossible since the infinite dungeon's levels are all random, even
previously visited ones, which is why it's a cyclo-alkene, because it's
never ending.

Rules:
From the start, go straight to the ID. From here, you must explore all
explorable parts of the level. If you do not discover any hidden doors, it's
up to you if you want to try and find them (although blocked coridoors are
obvious, they're optional to search around).

Once you've fully mapped that level, you find the stairs and walk down. Your
challenge is to dive as deep as possible before your character is
mercilessly slaughtered.

My first attempt of this is with a Grey Elf Candle wizard. I'll keep
everyone up-to-date on how it goes, it should be fairly simple, but I
suspect early low PP may be an issue. Lack of food preservation can also
hurt on the hunger aspect.

As an inexperienced player, wish me luck! :)

"Before you die, you see the ring."

You may want to add the restriction that, upon mapping the whole level,
you must go directly to the down staircase.

Yes and yes.

You had it correct above: cycloalkane, not cycloalkene. Alkenes
contain a C=C double bond.

But why did you choose cyclopentane? Cyclohexane is the most stable
and ubiquitous cycloalkane, by far. More appropriate to a challenge
game involving the ID, methinks.

First few characters died until I fated a trollish necromancer. God, are
these things tough. Refuses to die, no matter what, got my furthest yet
thanks to my slaves and the incredible toughness, and the strength, as well
as the starting weapon.

YOUR HISTORY:
Your parents belong to the nobility. They are rich, respected,
wealthy and own more than they can count.
As a child you had to survive pretty harsh times since your parents
seemed to have run out of luck. Their wealth was ever-declining and times
were very hard.
During your youth you had a lot of fun playing with other kids of
your age. You always were a natural leader and the center of interest.
Your young adulthood was characterized by hard and long work. You
had decided to study under a renowned master. To your great disappointment
you had to find out, that he was a hard, unjust and tyrannic man,
embittered by his old age. Your apprentice years were quite terrible.
You decided to become a Necromancer.

Wait a minute, hold the phone. Is it just me or is that a huge score for
a PC at that level just wandering in the ID? Checking against my high
score list, it's higher than all but two of mine (note that I have four
victories and that #100 is a level 10 high elven paladin with but 21266
points). The .flg and table scores do tend to differ, but this one is
just crazy. Is this in your high score table, Adam?

Yes, it's 16380 in my high score table. A glitch creating the .flg? I am
using ADOM-Sage, could that have caused it?

Since when is the ID stable, you'll never see the same level twice unless
it's by some unGodly stroke of luck. I'd say the shimmering enterance to a
cave that leads to the depths of the Earth was pretty unstable.

Maybe that's a matter of interpretation.

Ahhh, one point I forgot to overlook. I find this style suits my playing
style.

There could also be an optional challenge for the master cartographer,
pacifist mode. You're not allowed to directly kill any monsters (Make a note
of trap suicides) on your dive. Obviously, this is FAR too out of my league,
but I'm sure someone else could have a damn good time ducking and diving and
dodging the locals of the ID. Obvious candidates are bards with heir, and
necromancers with lots of slaves.

Josh and Adam, would you snip what you're not referring to in your
follow-up? Since you're only commenting on the score, you can leave the
rest of the .flg out.

I don't use ADOM-Sage, so I don't know.

Yep. Sorry. I didn't realize I quoted the whole thing until I read
Adam's reply just now. I am deeply ashamed.

In that case call it cyclopropane man. Cyclopropanes fall apart if
you look at them wrong.

But can you get drunk on it, because you have to admit, you gotta be drunk
to attempt this challenge 😉

These are the exact same rules I play only I call it the
'spelunker challenge'. In my last game a load of claw bugs
caught me by suprise..... And that was about level 3 of the
ID....
