Should I sell my 9900k and buy the ryzen 3800x? Or will that be stupid?

personally I think it would be a sideways move with little noticeable improvement, unless you have specific workloads.

If youre main work is editing videos or multicore intensive work, then you can think about it..For gaming it wont be worth that much..

Video editing is more a small time job I've have. Nothing serious.

Then according to my knowledge,it wont be worth upgrading. Since youll also have to buy a new motherboard as the boards for amd and intel are different.
It isnt worth investing if you already own an i9 9900K !

As others already said, sidegrade (and huge inconvenience) at best.

Changing platforms for a +/-10% difference doesn't make any sense to most people unless income is closely related to processing power.

Yup, Its not worth your time if you only video edit ocassionally, which the 9900k is more than capable of.
