Back in 2013.

I built a new gaming system with an Intel Core i5-4670K on an ASUS Z87-A ATX board with 2 evga 650 Ti Boost and 16GB of 1600Mhz Ram. I later used the eVGA set up program to move to 2 760 GTXs.

Due to space issue, in May 2014, I moved to a CUBE case, and moved all components to an ASUS Maximus VI GENE (Z87) MircoATX board and an evga 970GTX, I later move to a Gigabyte 970GTX OC.

I am debating about selling my desktop as we have remodeled the house (wood flooring) and I don't have the desk in the house anymore. (I am afraid of scratching the floor with my desk chair)

I am planning to just move to a notebook. I am considering the ASUS ROG with a 980M?

Should I sell and get the notebook??

Games I am looking forward to playing this coming year, The Division, (played BETA, no issues), FAR CRY Primal. Will a notebook with a 980M handle these games and any games that come out with the next 1.5 year.

CPU and GPU will be a pretty big downgrade, mobile components will never be as strong as their desktop counterparts. Like Captaincharisma has said, you won't play as well as you would have with your desktop. You might be able to play on medium-high (depending on game) on future games, maybe lower. Keep this in mind

I will agree, but after spending $5K for the (pretend) wood flooring, (wife wanted it), I don't want to have scratch marks around my desk area, a women's scorn is something to be dealt with

That's why the floor protectors, there is even a wood bamboo one for not that much.

Besides, where are you going to be using the laptop to game on? You still need to sit and have a space for the mouse and laptop and possibly keyboard. Or are you expected to cradle it in your arms while wearing slippers?

Aside from the logistics here, a 980M is fine for gaming for a while, it will fun new games at medium smoothly for a bit.

Take a look at my build. It's a tiny build, set up on the mantle under my TV using that as a monitor. It's unobtrusive and full featured. Using a self-constructed media center shelf over my sound bar, I have all consoles, receivers, etc... on top and all wires well hidden underneath, with only a few visible.

There are other builds, Silverstone cases, etc... to mimic home theater components, and allow full PCs to hide in plain sight in the living room.

Best of all, if you have a good screen, gaming, surfing and streaming on a nice screen can look great and feel comfortable from the couch.

EDIT - In short or TL;DR, move the PC to the living room where you already likely have components to hide it in.

I am currently gaming on my old M14X R2 on the dining table, so that is my desk replacement. I think the overall issue of the gaming desk be moved out was more of the wife pushing the issue. Something to be discussed.

Actually, that is why I am looking to sell the desktop, to get enough $$ to get a notebook...I will pay off the flooring in about 6 months., gotta love HOME DEPOT Credit...and the them talking my wife into getting an account.

decided, after some discussion with the wife. No desk, no desktop computer. Gonna Sell and look into an ASUS ROG...(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834234093) Best I can get close to my desktop, if I can get $1400 for the whole PC, or parted out, I will start with the Motherboard and then see about all the other components.
