Hi all :) I bought 2 DDR4 32gb kits on amazon, one direct from them, other in the marketplace as amazon was out of stock at the time, I just got my order and to my surprise instead of two CT4K8G4DFD8213 kits, which run at 2133 15-15-15 1.2V I just got one kit and 4x8GB BLS8G4D240FSA sticks which run at 2400MHz with 16-16-16-39 2T.

I contacted the seller and kindly told me that they messed up and could issue full refund or exchange to what I originally bought, the problem is that returns are really a hassle for me, as I don't live in the USA and I would need to ship it back from my country which is something like a nightmare.

Is there any chance that they would work together? I can't test them as I'm still waiting for other parts to arrive, if everything goes well, I should have all components to test next Sunday. But if someone knows this wont work before hand, I would better start the returning nightmare asap, the sooner the better.

Thanks a zillion guys.

You can give them a try, with the looser timings of DDR4 I think we might well be able to get them to play. I'd start wiith the 2133 set (make sure you have the latest BIOS, enable XMP and ensure the timings and voltage are correct. Then change the DRAM voltage to 1.25, save exit and shutdown and add the other set and let us know what it does. The alternative is you contact the seller and AMazon and make them send you a return shipping label to cover the full costs and have them expedite the proper set - I would tell them that you see no sense in you having to pay anything associted with THEIR MISTAKES and it's only proper they expedite and get you what you ordered and paid for
mate send them back. theres a good chance of damaging 1 or more of the sticks or your memory controller when you run ram of different timings. you will also force the ram into single channel mode which will loose even more performance.
yeah you could run the ram at the slower speed but theres no guarantee that the tersuary (secondary) timings wont cause issues long term and overclocking will be out as the system will always be struggling with stability of the ram.

yeah i get its a pain but its much less so than having a system you paid good money for suddenly stop working or consistently under performing.
also they cocked up so they should pay for the return.

my advice would be to email them again and ask them if you can send only the wrong ram back. at least that way you still have some ram to put in the system.

Thank you!!! still waiting for at least 2 more answers to give credit to the best one, but I really appreciate you took the time to answer to my problem.

I need 64gb for after effects, I do motion graphics and AE needs at least 3gb per logical processor to work optimally, 16logical cores*3=48 gigs of ram just for after effects, the remaining 16gb will be use for OS and other programs. I'm building this machine to work at 4k, which is really, really demanding.

thanks again :)

in that case, enjoy it !

ooohhhhh my!!! that's really bad 🙁 well, I think as you said that it would be better to return it, but this is really going to cost me 🙁 (A LOOOOOOT), I did my homework and what I originally ordered was tested by others, another good example of no matter how hard you try to get things right... there could always be somethings that you cant not foresee that will break things up *sighs*

I was willing to try them first but you really got me scare, I though that as they are 2 banks of 4 sticks I could just fill one bank with each kit, put the faster one to match the slower and be done with it. but now... I dont know if I even want to try, having problems is one thing but frying my memory controller is a whole big NO NO!

Thank you so much to you and all for taking the time to help up me with this! Much appreciated :)

I got really scared about what HEXiT said about damaging the memory controller or even some sticks, do you think is there a chance? it would cost me greatly to send them back, but I guess replacing the motherboard and or sticks would cost me even more.

The 2133 kit doesn't have any XMP profiles, is like the most basic ddr4 kit money can buy, but I have seen reviews in which they overclocked easily. I guess not having XMP bring another lot of stuff to be dealt with, but if doing so wont fry anything I'm willing to get my hands dirty with your help of course :)

Even if I get them to send me a return label, I would have to pay to get it back from my country to the usa, that's what make returning a whole mess. All being said, seller offered full refund or expedite shipping of replacement, and has been real responsive, still returning is a big thing to dealt with.

No it's not going to damage the MC (memory controller). The DRAM when installed will go to the mobos default and will work or won't, it's not going to fry anything. If others are involved in shipping not much yu can do about that other than pay, if they had paid to directly ship to you, then they should pay all return costs. If you had someone in the States buy it and they sshipped to you then it's basically on you to get it back to where the seller shipped to for the return. Sorry 🙁

no mate if they pay for the rma you dont pay a penny. whether its the actual return or them shipping back out to you even the insurance will be covered.
you just take the slip to your local shipping outlet/post office and they will handle everything for you. that is if they dont send a local delivery firm to pick it up from you directly.

as for the damage thats the worst case scenario. it can happen but its pretty rare today with things like xmp profiles being the norm.
the main concern would be system stability.

Sweet!!!! as there are no chances of frying anything, I'm willing to try and see if they work, so what you think should be the first step as the 2133 kit doesn't have xmp? how should we proceed?

Yeah, It would have been great to have someone, but no such luck this time, I order from amazon often and this is like the first time something like this happens to me, anyway, l'm positive we can get them to work, if not will return them.

Believe me when I say thing are nightmarish with returns here, I had tried that and no dice.

From the two 32gb kits, one does not have xmp profiles, I don't know if that would make things more difficult or dangerous, the slower 2133 kit lacks xmp profiles, the ballistix sport does have xmp.

Happy to know that it was the worst case scenario :) uff!!! you really got me in panic mode with that, the motherboard I will use is an asus x99 pro with a corsair hxi 750 psu and a 5960x cpu I do really want to oc the cpu up to 4.3, that would be more than enough for me needs.

I'll do that, all my parts are expected to be here next sunday if everything goes right, with all the shippings, I will get back here next sunday and let you all know how it went.

Thank you!!!! and all others for all the help!
