Selling My Gaming PC for a MacBook Air

Lately I have been getting tired of the repetitiveness in playing video games. I am 15 years old and I am getting more and more interested in programming and software development. I want to be able to create a social media app or create sick beats but I see in videos and the pros they all use MacBooks and also window computers seem to be limited to computing these tasks. My current pc specs:
I5-4690k
CM Hyper 212 Evo
MSI Z97 Gaming 3
WD 1TB
OCZ 240GB SSD
MSI GTX 1060
Corsair 200R
BENQ XL2411Z
HP 23''
Logitech G910
SteelSeries Rival

I am thinking about selling all these items for about $1600, which I am not to sure on let me know what you guys think and then buying a MacBook Air for at most $900. Do you guys know what affordable specs I should get. And then if i have enough money i may buy a $500 gaming PC or just a console.

Do you guys think this is a good move?

1. There is nothing special about a Macbook vs a Windows PC for "programming and software development".
Absolutely nothing.

2. You're not going to get $1600 for those parts. New, they come up to about $1500.
You'd be lucky to get $900 out of it.

You've just been watching the wrong vids.
There is nothing limiting about using a Windows PC for programming.

Now...if you want to be one of the cool kids, then by all means...buy into the Apple hype. They are not that special.

One thing you could do is turn your computer into a Hackintosh if you want a Mac so bad. I'm not very knowledgeable about it, but people do get non-Apple computers to run OS X.

Programming for the Apple ecosystem is 'easier' on a Mac. It is easier to talk to the Apple Store, when coming from an Apple machine.
Programming in general is the same, either way.

But don't buy into the hype that Macs are 'better', or that Windows machines are limited for programming tasks.

To be completely honest, I have little to no experience with programming that is why I am going to save for a year before I buy a macbook and i really just want to know where I can get good exposure to this new world of language

I just see all the good softwares for programming and coding being exclusively available for Mac. I want to be able to get some practice into coding and programming but quite frankly I dont know where to start and really just want some direction.

Runs better on your gaming PC than any Mac Laptop you can get right now would have a prayer of.

I have a Bachelors in Computer Science, there is not one programming lab in any good Computer college in the country that has Macs in it. Yeah they may offer some classes on Mac related stuff, but If you are serious about programming, Macs and especially a Macbook air is a toy.

You will regret selling your gaming PC, which is a excellent programming machine, for the Mac that will never live up to your expectations.

Play with it for a few months. Learn some code.

The cool thing about PC's is that they are multifunctional. You may think you have a 'gaming PC', and that's all you can do with it. Wrong. You can also write code on it.
And it will knock the snot out of a Mac Air.

If you want mac environment , just download virtual machine (virtual box - https://www.virtualbox.org/ ) You don't need to buy a mac to macOS.

All the parts in my pc are 1 year and 6 months old except for the gpu which is about 1 month old. Thinking about selling my computer because I am getting tired of pc gaming and going for a MacBook Air that is like 1 year old at most with good specs and getting an xbox one and playing my video games from that.
