Send Video Signal via Laptop wifi to wifi ready TV's

I have a customer who wants to send a video signal via his laptop connected to his wifi to 2 LCD TV's that are also connected to his wifi network. Can this even be done? I know sending video across ethernet can be done. But I've not seen or read anywhere about sending it the way this customer wants to.

It doesn't work that way.

The TV's likely support internet apps and that is it. You would need some type of device to transmit and receive the signal. Wifi won't do it by itself.

Depends what you mean "video". If the TV has the ability to receive streamed video then it will work the same as it would on ethernet. It would just be a video stream that happens to come from his internal machine rather than the internet. Of course you would have to have the proper/compatible streaming software on the PC.

Now if he means he wants to use the TV as a monitor off his PC using wireless. That is highly unlikely. They do make HDMI extenders that you can run over 2 cat6 ethernet cables but when you compare that to even the fastest wireless available there is not even close to enough bandwidth on wireless.

I am sure it can be done. An ordinary digital flat screen TV has HDMI slots at the rear. These are to connect other device such as a Laptop, but these are great to connect other HDMI devices such as wireless boxes. They are now in the Internet, but I am not sure myself the name of these devices. The are attached to a computer via HDMI cable and a power point. They then pick up the computer wireless modem signals such as D-Link or NetGear to name a couple of them, and then send the signal to the HDMI input of the TV via the cable. And if you have a wireless mouse and keyboard you can sit in the comfort of your lounge sofa and use both to search the web, watch YouTube and play video games on your TV. You can also check the wireless range from the modem in your Study or room with a laptop and if the signal is strong you will not have any problems. If you have other TV's in the home, you can connect extra wireless boxes to them too. All with be the same connection once these boxes are paired with a password. Hope it helps. Let me know.

But you are talking something totally different than sending actual HDMI signals. What you are talking about is similar to hooking a PC to the TV (if it is a actual PC or not does not matter) then you send a special data stream normally very compressed to the pc. The PC receives this special compressed file/stream and converts it to HDMI and send its over the cable. Real HDMI coming out of your video card on your laptop is something very different. This is extremely high bandwidth signals. This is part of the reason video cards cost so much, they have to be able to produce this high bandwidth signal. Even HDMI is too slow for many of the newest video cards and tv.
