Hello,

I have a desktop running Windows 10. I've two drives in RAID 1 that are managed by Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST). There is an option within IRST to send an email to a specified address to notify me of drive failure or other storage related events. The problem is that there are very few email settings, and every time I try to send a test email with the provided button, the test fails and no email is received. I did some research and found that an office 365 email requires authentication before accepting an email. I downloaded a program call SMTPAuth which adds authentication information to an email, and then sends it on. I did that, but emails still fail to send. I looked at the SMTPAuth log, and it seems to start going wrong when the client sends the AUTH LOGIN command. There's also a bit at the end where the server says that the client needs TLS. Does anyone know how to tack on TLS to an outgoing email? Am I even understanding what the server wants? Are some settings wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

I am running Windows Server 2012 R2 and I am in the same boat as you.
I have tried multiple different sending accounts with different domains, different ports, different smtp servers.
Still no go.
If anyone has another utility that can send alerts about raid errors via email that would be great.
What boggles my mind is that there is no option to change/add SSL settings so I am using non ssl ports through bluehost (587) and there is no option to add or remove a password after clicking "send test email".
I have read that the version is too old (DONE - RAID ul_intel_rste_utility_5.5.0.2002_win.exe) so I must upgrade, but this is the newest version compatible with my OS....
Also I have read that there is a workaround using the task scheduler to send emails upon errors in the event viewer. I remember spiceworks being capable of this when I used to use it, but I literally just want Raid error/ alert, information and do not want a resource hog app running in the background.
Thoughts?
