[SOLVED] sending photos to iCloud

I have an iPhone 4s, and have Family Sharing turned on. From my phone, I select photos on the camera roll and send them to my iCloud, but they never show up in iCloud. Is this because I do not have iOS 8?

To better answer your question please explain how you are sending them to iCloud.
FYI If we are talking about Photos being "Turned On" in iCloud settings, that is referencing an iCloud Backup, and is not viewable. You would want to use the iCloud Photo Stream Or Photo Sharing. http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201317

The iCloud Photo Library alternative does require iOS 8 or newer however
