I bought best buys 2 year replacement policy. I am at the end of two years
and my xbox drive has been giving me increasing problems. I called them and
everything is set up to return the xbox. however, I no longer have the game
that came with the system. Will this matter? thanks.

Well, I just bought a new xbox to replace my original that i bought the day
it was released.(hard drive died) When I bought the first one I didn't get
the extended warranty but this time I did and the cashier told me I needed
to bring everything back if I have problem, including the free game(s) If
they give you a hard time, tell them that you weren't told that and raise
hell ! LOL

What did you happen to do with your older XBox? If the DVD drive is
still working, you could at the very lease sell that off for a fair
price. Did you consider buying a mod chip and a new HDD? I can pretty
much gaurantee that would have been less then the price of a new system.
Heck if you have an old HDD sitting around somewhere, I'd say it'd be
cheaper than buying a waranty.

Well Best Buy is notorious for doing everything in their power to avoid
honering the warranty that they love (to push down your throat. If you
want to hear some horror stories check out:
http://bestbuysux.org/index1.html If they hassle you about not having
the game that came with the system, just go to the nearest (gamestop,
ebgames or whatever) and buy it used. Chances are if it's a two year
old game that came with the system (like the JSRF/Sega GT combo) it will
be around $10.

jam the cd drawer closed. Tell them its the damn free game that broke the
cd drawer. Dishonest...I guess, but they made their proffit already. Now
they just have less of a profit. Also, It helps that you talk nice to the
guy at the return desk. Often Ive returned stuff like speakers with holes
drilled into it (for mounting) etc...and they say nothing. Usually they
dont know what exactly came in the box.

I like going to "Best Buy" for one reason and one reason only, to use them
as a show room. :^)

Every time I've wanted a new toy, (PDA, digital camera, etc) I always first
do my research on the internet.

After narrowing my decision down to a few products, I look at BB's website
to see if they sell any of them.

If they, do I head over to the local BB just to physically see the products,
which usually help in the decision process.

Afterwards, I go back home and order the product I decided on from an online
retailer (not BB!) for not only less but also tax free!

I agree about their "extended warrant bs" also. Best Buy can shove their
"extended warranties" and "Mobster Cables" up their ....

Best Buy will try to fix it three times before they will replace the unit.
If they are unable to fix it after three attempts, then they will replace
it. You will have to purchase a new extended warranty for the new one if
replaced.

You will not need the disk that it came with; in fact I would just return
the Xbox unit, and keep the controller at home !

buy the game off ebay....i'm sure the "free" games can't be more than 7-15
bucks. Or go to ebgames.com and see if your free game is there on their
"previous played" and use their 15% off coupon.
