Sensible overclock?

Hello,
Looking to Aim for around about 3.2GHz on my 1055t. I know they can go up to 4.00GHz although I want this processor to last me around about a year and a half before I upgrade. I do rendering in sony Vegas and That uses main CPU and RAM. So soon I'm upgrading to 8GB RAM and at the moment I'm on 4GB which is fine for the moment.

"sensible overclock" to me is a function of heat and voltage. If you have to raise the voltage a lot, and/or you have to dissipate a lot of heat, then you have gone past sensible overclock. And I view sensible overclock as what you could convince the average non-computer person to accept without worry. Most of us are happy to go beyond sensible overclock. So if I can put on an after market cooler and get overclock temps that are similar to what I would get at stock speeds with the factory cooler, then I think that is plenty sensible.

So with all of that said, the cooler you are using is pretty important. And then it depends on your individual CPU and how well it likes to overclock. Some work better than others, meaning they will run fast on less voltage meaning less heat.

Basically this. Any OC that requires more than a bump or 2 of voltage and gets hotter than 65C full load is past the sensible point. It shouldn't limit you as I've pulled a 1Ghz OC following these parameters.

If you want to help with cooling get a good case. the cpu cooler is the primary hardware you should have but a good case helps. I'm using a cool master haf 922 and love it. It has helped keep temps down.

I'm not 100% sure what your asking but I have intel i7 960@3.8GHz 1.35 core voltage 24/7 never passes 70c on stock cooler... I wouldn't like my voltage to go over 1.4v 24/7 and refuse 1.5v and temps past 75c are not acceptable to me
