Thinking to buy 3570k core i5 overclocked to 4.6ghz with thermaltake contac 21 heat sink, P8Z77 V LX2 mobo, 8gb crucial ballistix ram and a 760 gtx 4gb graphics card. The idea is these will go in a NZXT LEXA CASE with a 750W ocz psu with a 500 gb sata drive and an ssd if I can find the money. Please advise if this sounds like a good build without buying new case. Thanks.

Nope. Overclocking a CPU which, at stock clocks, can max ANY GAME will not provide ANY increase at all. It is a hobby.

The GPU is what does 85% of the work for running games. The CPU simply has to 'keep up'.

Overclocking is a hobby.
I would definitely not get that PSU. It is overkill and low quality. Get a 650w antec, XFX, Corsair, Seasonic unit.

I would change the CPU cooler for sure. If you want 4.5ghz, you will need to drop $60+ on a good cooler. I recommend a Noctua NH-D14 or a Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK.

Thanks for the fast reply. The psu is part of the existing system and I'm not planning to replace unless necessary. I have very little time /expertise to oc myself so am looking to buy an overclocked bundle from eBay. components4all claim to test for stability and have 100% positive feedback but better to attempt myself?

I would not buy a bundle from anywhere. HUGE waste of money. Plus, that CPU heatsink isn't good and won't be able to run a 3570k at 4.6ghz.

Overclocking is a hobby, not really for performance increase. There is NO reason to have someone else do it and risk breaking something down the line when you don't even need it.

Ok - thanks again for the posts. It is fair to say I am only really interested in the performance increase and this seemed to be good value for money given the price for individual components seem to add up to very little more. Interesting you don't think it's needed. If it worked, Wouldn't it significantly improve gaming performance?
