Separate Connection in One House

Hi, i've been having trouble playing my online games decently because of the lag and delay that i get from connecting to our wireless network. Whenever somebody plays a video from youtube or streams a movie, my game just gets ruined. Does connecting my laptop to the router through an ethernet cable solve me the problem? Will i not be affected by their downloads if i do this? Thanks

It will help a little, but not solve our problem, unless other person(s) want to cooperate.
Another little help is to check whether your router supports QoS (Quality of Service), and enable it.
