This has got me stumped. I want to copy a couple of hundred image files
from a specific folder in MY PICTURES to a CD. Whether I use Nemo or
Windows, the files rearrange themselves when I copy. Has this happened to
anyone else? Can anyone tell me how I can copy in the same order as in My
Pictures?

The order in which they appear is not the order in which they are stored.
Open the folder and click on the gray column headers and you can arrange in
several different ways. For example click on size and then click on it again
and you will get them sorted in ascending and descedning order of size.

The available sorts don't match my needs. Because these are digitalized
slides from beaucoup years back, I really want to make a backup CD with the
images in the same (chronological) order as they appear in My Pictures. Can
it be done? It seems logical to me that this would be an option. I was able
to get them in the right order in a "Memories Disc" I made with HP's imaging
software. ???

Well the display sorting is at display time and nothing to do with disk
filing.

I assume the CD writing software also does some arbitrary sorting, although
whether it does this differently between fisplay and burning I don't know.

You could try copying them in order to a newly created folder (Copy not
move) and then record from there, but I think you may have to resort to
renaming such as a.jpg b.jpg and so on to actually get somewhere.
