Serial Numbers on RAM?

I am going to buy more RAM and the RAM that I have matched the the RAM I was going to buy ie. Latency, Voltage etc. all matched except for the serial number. Does his matter?

no, you can match RAM from different brands as long as freq, timing and voltages are the same.

it may but for piece of mind get a matched kit or the exact brand and type you got.. I have done this with patriot memory 2 sticks now and the exact same 2 sticks later but I don't think I would go like 2 g-skill and then 2 patriot that sounds too much like trouble to me ... you should always buy the memory in the matched kits...[opinion] but if your just looking to jack-leg things then go for it it will work or it will not then you will spend on something else to try... its your time and money good luck

I completely agree there, that sounds like the better way to go. You always want to make sure everything matches if you plan to use more than one - that goes for hard drives, RAM, SSDs, GPUs, you name it.

The serial numbers don't matter on any part you buy, especially RAM. What matters is that the voltage, timings, and speed match. Otherwise it won't work and you'll get errors and BSODs as a result.
