Well sure they're identical because then Dell could use standard commodity plugs and sockets instead of paying more for custom parts. But what it is wired to only works with the Serial Port/PS2 Port Adapter that was sold as an add-on by Dell.
USB 3.0 was extraordinarily expensive back in 2011, requiring an add-on chip because no chipset Southbridge supported it yet. Do you really think if Dell had included such a feature they would've hidden it all of these years instead of advertising it?
