I am very interested in going with the i9X socket 2066, x299 system but I am worried Intel may ditch this platform too soon for the x499 chipset under a 10nm process in a year or so and my MB wont support any newer cpus in 2019 and beyond.....so my upgrade path may be quite limited.

MB: ASUS prime x299
GPU: Asus Strix 1080 ti (may want to hold off for potential Volta GeForce announcements)
RAM: 16-32GB DDR4 2266(xmp to 3300MHz maybe under x299???)
Storage: Samsung 960 500GB M.2 EVO + 1TB SSD SanDisk + 3TB hard disk backup.
PSU: keep same PSU
Case: keep same case
