Server for home use - sempron self build or HP proliant n40L

Im thinking of sorting out a home server for - music sharing, photo sharing, printer sharing, doc sharing (all over home network) and later video sharing via dlna (possibility of TV card in htpc writing data back to server).

The HP proliant server seems a great deal with £100 cashback, but it just seems very low powered and without an 80+ psu.

therefore I was thinking a self build sempron server:

AMD Sempron 145 2.8GHz 45W Socket AM3 Retail Boxed Processor
Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P Socket AM3+ 7.1 Channel HD Audio mATX Motherboard - only sata 2 x6 has gigabit lan

Be Quiet Pure Power L7 350W PSU (x4 sata and 80+)
NZXT Source 210 White Gaming Chassis 120mm Fan

spare Xenta SATA 3 Cable 6Gbps - 46cm

all that comes in at £159.34 - the motherboard only supports sata 2 thought, but for home use i can't see this being an issue?

Is the HP the sensible way to go of is it worth a shot at a sempron build that i assume would be a bit quicker? anyone build a sempron build?
would look to run ubuntu server on it

If your thinking of streaming videos and it might involve on the fly transcoding then yu will need a much more powerful cpu. Otherwise the sempron will be ok. I run an athlon2 x2 240 in mine.

OK i thought the cpu might be a bit low, looking again there is also a dual core sempron - AMD Sempron X2 190 2.50GHz Dual Core available however looking at the cpu benchmarks its not upto much

the other option i've been thinking about is using a Intel Celeron G530 2.40GHz with an MSI H61MA-E35 (B3) Intel H61 board - x 4 SATA 2 x2 SATA 3 ports similar prices? the celeron could then be run as an HTPC and a server? would this be a good way to go?
