Hello there!

I need a second option on this one. I work with computational simulations (projects with tens of GB) working on a network.
I'm going to retired a desktop, and buy a dedicated server on a rack.
8 Pc's works on a network with that size of files.
What's is your recommendation for RAM?

Best Regards
A

For file sharing to 10 workstations accessing 10GB data sets, I would recommend 10GE for the server and some of your budget go to the necessary switch infrastructure to allow those workstations to get 1Gb/client.

I am going to recommend something different ...

A small host with Windows server for your AD and then a 10GE NAS for your file storage/backup repository.
