Server ram for consumer motherboard

I have mb gigabyte ga78lmt usb3
as ram prices have increased i saw some cheap ebay listings which says its ecc ram and supports desktop and servers
iam not sure of it and want some opinions on it

edit:the sk Hynix says it doesn't support desktops and the Samsung one says it supports both server,desktop
