Good day all,
I took on a client that has a Lenovo server running server 2019 standard. I am upgrading the drives to SSD, The system has a Lenovo raid card controlled by Lenovo XClarity Provisioning Manager. My attempt at cloning the drive and installing that and letting the raid rebuild didn't work out. So my plan is to just reinstall the server OS with the new drives on Raid1. I haven't done much with raid in some time, So I'm trying to make sure my plan is going to work.
Server as mentioned is running 2019 standard. Runs HyperV with 4 Virtual servers. two are 2019, one is 10 and one is server 2008 (will be Decommissioned soon)
Plan:
1. Export Virtual servers to external drive.
2. Install SSDs, Enter LXPM and set drives to Raid1 and then. Reinstall 2019
3. Reinstall Hyper-V import virtual servers.
Questions:
1. Does the server OS burn the OS license to bios like 10 and 11 or would I need a new product key? Can I find the current product key?
2. I google if Hyper-V needs licensing. Looks like that was a yes an no answer. Where would I find Licensing info for Hyper-V if it has it?
3. Any other advice?
It sounds too easy!
Thanks

You seem to be well protected without raid.
Even without raid, you are vulnerable to raid card failure or inadvertent user error such as deletion.
Considering the very long mean time to failure of a ssd, adding raid 1 confers very limited protection.
