Hi,
Could you please help solve this?
12 services stopped, one after the other within 2 seconds, I scanned for malware, what else could it be?

The services which 'terminated unexpectedly' are:-
- Background Intelligent Transfer Service
- IP Helper
- Server service
- User Profile Service
- Task Scheduler
- System Event Notification Service
- Shell Hardware Detection Service
- Themes service
- Windows Management Instrumentation Service
- Base Filtering Engine service
- Diagnostic Policy Service
- Windows Firewall service

This repeated a few times within the next few minutes.

Any ideas on possible causes?
Many thanks for your help.

Eric

- Critical. Event ID: 404. Task Scheduler Service has encountered RPC initialisation error...
- The Service Control Manager tried to take corrective action (Restart the service) after the unexpected termination of Windows Management Instrumentation Service, but this action failed with the following error: An instance of the service is already running. Event ID: 7032.

Thanks for the reply.
I opened Task Manager and Event Viewer after seeing that the Firewall was off.

Of the 12 stopped services only 2 were running again:
- User profile service (ProfSvc)
- Diagnostic Policy Service (DPS)

I believe that all 12 of the missing services were from these two processes:
- Service Host: Local Service (No Network)
- Service Host: Local System

I am unable to do as you ask, I had already run the anti-virus boot scan, the machine has re-booted. The services were all running after the scan. (Which found nothing)

Other than malware, what else could cause these 12 services to suddernly stop?
What other kinds of computer issue could cause it?

Thanks
