set up second hardrive on windows n8.1

I have fitted a 2nd 1Tb hardrive for storage on my computer. The software is windows 8.1.
I have conected the cables a the manual. The hardrive does not show up in the disk manager. The hardrive is a seagate. Do I need to go into bios settings? Help!!

So your system includes one boot drive & two 1 TB HDDs? Or is the other 1 TB HDD your boot drive?
What is the make/model of the system's motherboard?
Have you accessed Device Manager to see if that "problem" Seagate HDD is listed there in the Disk drives section along with the other drive(s) in your system? If it is not, check the BIOS settings to determine whether that HDD is detected by the BIOS.
Have you used that "problem" Seagate HDD before, perhaps in another system?
You're pretty sure you've connected that disk to an appropriate SATA connector on the motherboard?
The boot drive boots without incident and functions without any problems?

Thanks for help. Would appear that the sata cable was not making contact as it suddenly appeared and all is well.
