Hi, I am using 2 x 3tb Hitachi HSD723030 ALA640 HDD for home theatre with XMBC. But i have noticed little lagging. It seems like hdd powers off maybe thats what "green" hdds do or all hdds do? It seems like when I try to select the movie in XMBC it starting to run again (I can hear a sound) and after a while I can access and see my list of movies.
As I am never been properly trained in IT, not sure if there is a setting I have missed or tweak I can do to speed up the hdd from starting up? powersetting or indexing and so on?? Please enlighten me.
Another question is would there be any increase in speed if I connect hdd to SATA3 ports? Newer genernations of motherboard seems to be coming with SATA3 ports and I am getting SDD for workstation and going to use old HDD (Hitachi 1tb HDT721010 SLA360 or Seagate ST3100033AS) for secondary. Would it be just overkill to use SATA3 for HDDs? or some new generation HDDs actually support SATA3?
Thank you.
