Hi,
I need to set my resolution to as low as possible (for use on a tiny screen), 240x240 if possible. It doesn't need to look great, most need it for text based applications. Problem is, when I go to resolution it won't let me lower it to less than 800x600. I read somewhere you can go thru a bunch of steps to get the computer to boot into VGA mode but I want it to boot into that resolution everytime I boot the computer, without having to push special keys and select VGA mode for each boot. How do I go about making 240x240 resolution the standard resolution?

Do you have an nvidia card? You can set a custom resolution in nvidia control panel under change resolution, just set it up to match the native resolution and refresh rate of your screen. I think you can do with with intel hd graphics as well but im not sure how, im sure its similar find the intel hd graphics control center or whatever they call it and look for a custom resolution option.

Unfortunately not, it's one of these "mini PC" things (http://liliputing.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/x-26_02.jpg) with built in graphics... Is it not possible unless I have a nvidia card?

No you dont need an nividia card.

It has integrated graphics in the cpu. What cpu does it have? Like an intel atom? Or intel celeron? If so you have should have an intel hd graphics control panel which is where you would make a custom resolution. I think you should be able to just right click the desktop select graphics properties which should bring you there then just look for custom resolution.

Do you have that screen attached to the system or are you just trying to set that resolution for testing?

VGA mode will give you a higher resolution anyway, VGA (the standard for resolution not the "VGA" adapter type) is 640x480. Here is a great chart that explains and compares graphically the different resolution standards. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_Graphics_Array#/media/File:Vector_Video_Standards2.svg
