Setting up 5.1 speakers onto my ASUS Mobo

I recently purchased these speakers z506 Logitech 5.1 (http://tinyurl.com/k86h5bb) only two of the speakers are playing. I did some research, and I read something along the lines of its only playing two speakers because it set to stereo or something of that nature. Any idea what I need to do to make it play through all 5 speakers? Here is my mobo: http://tinyurl.com/mmge4r5

Your speaker manual will show you how to switch it to 5.1

From http://www.logitech.com/en-au/product/surround-sound-speakers-z506 - you got the 6 speaker cables plugged into your mobo?

No manual available. Their are only three 3.5mm cables to be plugged into the motherboard (green, orange, and black). The rest plug into the sub woofer.

Try and fiddle around with your audio settings (bottom right hand corner of screen). You have the audio drivers installed right? Your audio controller is a Realtek® ALC1150. Link for the driver:

If the cables are all plugged in -

R Click on your Desktop Speaker Icon

Then Playback Devices

Then Speakers

Then Configure

Then enable 5.1 and test

I installed the missing driver played with the settings put it to 5.1 surround sound, and pressed test. It worked, but when I watch a '5.1 surround sound test' in youtube 2 speakers only play sound.

I did this to same result as the upper.

YouTube videos are encoded in stereo. Try and find a setting in the diver control panel that says Pro Logic or All Channel Stereo (or something along those lines). You won't get discrete 5.1 from YouTube.

Yes - the source has to be 5.1 for your PC to put out true 5.1. Else you'll have to get your speaker amp to simultae surround sound by switching to surround sound.
