Setting Up A Dual Display Using My Monitor And HDTV

I have been trying to setup my video card to do dual display using my monitor and HDTV. I'm not looking to play a game across both displays, rather my TV is hooked up so that I can run Kodi on my computer and have it display on my TV.

The problem that I am running into is that what ever is on my monitor will not mirror on my television and same goes for what's on my television when the computer is hooked up to it, there is no mirror image on the monitor. I have to physically disconnect the HDMI cord from the television and reboot my computer in order to have my desktop display on my television and be able to open programs such as Kodi. I need to clarify what I mean. If I have both devices connected, I can open programs, but they will not show on my desktop screen. I can see that they are open down in the task bar, but the windows do not pop up on the television or monitor.

That is when I have to disconnect the HDMI cable from the TV.

My monitor is running off the DVI of my video card and the TV off the HDMI port of my video card. My video card is the EVGA GTX 750ti FTW 2Gb card. I am using Windows 10.

I didn't find extend at first, but I did find clone this to and I cloned it to my monitor, but it caused my TV to go to my monitor's resolution and it softened up the display on the mointor.

I can't seem to keep the monitor resolution at 1680x1050 and the TV at 1920x1080p.

When I do the extended option it goes back to what I explained above.

Right click on the desktop and select screen resolution.
You should be able to independently set resolutions.
You can drag the images to better align the positions of the two devices.

You should be able to start Kodi as an app somewhere, and drag it as a window to the TV.

select screen resolution.

On the screen you will see monitors numbered one and two.
click on the monitor you want to work with.
I am talking about windows 7; possibly 8 or 10 might have such selections in a different place.
