We recently got Verizon Fios and the router signal sucks! Need to extend the range. Before we used the Comcast router and our own as a AP. Can this be done with Fios? I am unsure of how to set it up properly. It’s a Netgear router. I assume I just need to disable dhcp and put it in access point node and then connect it lan to lan?

You can do that no problem.

Of course, distance, building construction, other WiFi interference....all come into play.

Follow my above link to set up the Netgear as an Access Point.
If that fails, you may need to change to a better Access Point. Ubiquiti maybe.

Which specific Verizon router do you have?
The default ActionTec? Yeah...those do kinda suck.

Either upgrade to the Gateway G1100, or use another router (your Netgear) as an access point.
Yes, you can do that. Have it as a secondary router behind the default one.

If you also have TV through Verizon, one of their routers needs to be in the chain somewhere. That is what talks to the TV STB's.
