Setting up a server behind a router?

I know a fair bit about networking, but I've never tried anything like
this. When I start a server, no computers on the other side of the
router (on the Internet) can see the server. If someone can even just
point me in the right direction to figure out how I need to set the
router up, I would be grateful (and there will always be a place for you
on my server) :)

Hi Lisa,

Look here
<http://www.planetunreal.com/TheAdminPage/BehindaLAN.htm>
Pay particular attention to the udp ports that need to be forwarded from
the WAN to the server.

"You have to go to the LAN's Server "control window" or "server manager"
or "firewall control window", and allow the ports needed by UT to have
access permission or Port Forwarding set. The normal ports (UDP Ports) are
7777,7778,7779,7780,7781 and TCP port 80 for your RemoteAdminWeb site and
I am not sure how the UDP Port 27900 comes into play."

IOW forward 7777 thru 7781 to the UT server and 80 if you wish to admin
from outside the LAN. My recollection is that 27900 does NOT need to be
forwarded, but I could be mis-remembering.

In any case, The Admin Page is an invaluble resource to anyone who would
run a UT server.

Good luck,

Thanks, that should about do it. I'm familiar with the router's setup
and configuration pages, so I knew how to do it, just not what to do :)

The suggestions worked, the server is visible from the Internet. Cool
:)
