Hi - I have a VPS with a hosting company with 3 dedicated IP's. I wanted to host my own VPN server and thought this would be an ideal way, without having to buy a server and set up at home. Is anyone proficient in how to install a VPN application on a VPS with the security protocols? It is a centos operating system.

WOuld it be possible to then use this as my own VPN from home or anywhere else?

I know I can install OpenVPN in the CLI, but how to get it working, configure it is beyond me. The hosting company also said I can do it but need to dedicate one of the IP's for it and everything must be done in the command line, or course.

Thanks

This is one of those things that there are no real shortcuts to. You have to learn the basics of vpn and what all the options mean. There are a bunch of guides on how to install openvpn on a linux machine. Its not like it does any good for me to cut and paste that here.

If you really don't want to deal with it there are hosting companies that will preinstall and configure the openvpn software. You will still want to configure any security stuff yourself.
