I need to buy the right eqyipment for my situation. Let me explain. I live in Japan. I am leaning towards American equipment for the interface in English. I understand some Japanese, and I currently have a Japanese buffalo 900dhp as a base unit with a buffalo wex-300 set up as as a secondary wap.
My base unit is in my living room about 10 meters away from my second unit. It's down a hallway with a couple doors inbetween. My current connection supports up to 100mbps (theoreticaly). Vdsl modem provided by NTT supports up to 92mbps. I live in a 3LDK of a four story appartment. I'm able to detect 5 to 6 othder networks at any given time.
I have no problem with connection speed or interference in my living room. I've seen a speed test get up to 72mbps on wifi connection with the 2.5 ghz band. It averages at about 54mbps.
In my computer room it's another story. connected directly to my wex-300 with my desktop, I get about 18mbps. My wifi connection speed on my laptop to the wex-300 in the same room is 4mbps. I keep getting drop outs on my pc. My wex will just drop connection and take about a minute to sync up to the base unit again.
I play games, do homework, listen to internet radio, and skype on my desktop. With these contstant drops in connection I'm having a hard time doing that. I haven't used that room for over a week now. I wanted to add a repeater/relay? between my base and secondary unit, but after doing some research it seems impossible. Buffalo has a network compatability chart that's a bit confusing, but it looks like my equipment is "type 1" and only supports one "parent-child" connection.
So, I might just replace them both. Powerline adapters are out of the question. I need a base unit that supports at least two secondary units.
I need one of the secondary units to go behind my tv in the living room. I just need a wired connection to my tv and blue ray recorder. A little two port repeater or something similar...I need another secondary unit in my pc room. This needs multiple ports with no connection drops. I was thinking of getting all 11ac equipment with beamforming...I also have a Wii U in my living room, chromecast, and my wife's laptop. I'd like to get equipment that allows me to add a repeater off of the secondary router in my pc room, but I hope it's not even necessary. I hope I painted a good picture of what I'm going for. Any suggestions?
